The Green Ginger Arcade is located inside what was the Tynemouth Congregational Church. Built in 1869 it was a place of worship for the residents of Tynemouth as well as the numerous visitors who frequented this popular resort. However numbers dwindled dramatically during the 1960's and 1970's with the church eventually losing its congregation to The Broadway Methodist Church in Cullercoats, and St Columba’s in North Shields.
In 1980 The Church was converted into “The Land Of Green Ginger” shopping Mall and today, The Green Ginger Shopping Arcade has a variety of shops to suit all tastes
